90 Pairs of Hands

90 Pairs of Hands is an integrated wall installation, commissioned by the global creative group Imagination for the a newly built luxury car brand’s private office in Chelsea, NYC.

At the centre of the artwork we find a single perfect circle formed by 90 dichroic elements. This is a direct tribute to the exact number of hands which produce one of the cars - the enduring, beating heart of the company. An engraved line runs through these elements, a gesture to the iconic coach line which is hand painted on each car.

The uncontained form of the artwork was designed to embody the endless opportunities for personalising a vehicle. The design is not encased within a circle, but dissipates at the edges. Through this the artwork finds its breath; its life form. To the perimeter there is movement and energy, as opposed to containment or closure. It is the exchange of ideas, the collaboration of craftsman and client, the openness to innovation and progression. Within the detail of the design it is possible to find repeated forms, in particular the infinity symbol.
